(01PB24) The Possibles Bag - Black

This bag is built for the outdoors but pretty enough for everyday use.  

I cut this bag from oil tanned leather and then hand sewed it with black and white waxed polyester thread.  The closure clasp is magnetic with a leather keeper.  The oil tanned leather makes it water and stain resistant.  The inside features two pockets with a sewn in key fob.  The shoulder strap is adjustable and hand tooled from veg tanned leather and can be worn cross body or off the shoulder.

The attached Flower Charm comes with this bag.

Dimensions:

• The adjustable shoulder strap is 1 inch wide and 54 inches long (total length).  Bag hands 24 inches off the shoulder and can be made shorter. 
• The body of the bag is 8 1/2 inches wide; 8 1/2 inches tall; 7 1/2 inches deep. 

A Possibles Bag was carried by mountain men, trappers, and frontiersmen in the 18th and 19th centuries.  These individuals could usually be found with two items slung across their shoulders:  their powder horn and their Possibles Bag.  It was named a Possibles Bag because it contained everything you might possibly need for the day.  I created this pattern to replicate a 19th century Possibles Bag.

Leather is a natural and renewable resource and will have characteristics such as scars, bug bites and brands that will carry over to each project.
